How will MC Counselling help me?MC Counselling will help you to rebuild areas of concern relating to Mental Health, Addiction, Anger Management and Relationships. We work with you to understand the reasons behind the presenting concerns and find solutions.

Why a Registered Counsellor?By utilising the services of an ACA registered Counsellor you have peace of mind knowing they meet appropriate education and practice standards, and are accountable to a professional code of ethics and complaints procedure.

Can you tell me about Confidentiality?All matters discussed with the counsellor remain private and confidential. The exception is if you disclose wanting to injure someone or that someone wants to injure you and your life is in danger. Additionally, you can request information be shared with other parties. This is done via written consent to release information.

How many sessions will I need?The number of sessions will depend on individual circumstances.

How long is each counselling session?Each session is around 45 minutes.

What is the cost of counselling?Sliding scale between $63.50-$200 per session.

Are there Private Health Insurance Rebates?Please talk to us about options available for you including your Health Fund.

Can I access the Medicare rebate?Unfortunately, MC Counselling does not accept the medicare rebate.

What is a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP)?A Mental Health Treatment Plan is a tool used to discover what services are required and to access these services for the client. This enables the client (in the case of Counselling) to have 6-10 session per calendar year at no cost to the client, the costs being covered by Medicare. MC Counselling can utilise the content of the Mental Health Treatment plan to assist in creating a treatment plan for you, however we are unable to offer you discounted pricing with the medicare rebate. The good news is there are no waiting periods and treatment support can be accessed immediately

Does MC Counselling write reports?Yes. MC Counselling can write Forensic assessments for court matters. Please note that we do request pre-payment before a report is released. A minimum of 4-6 sessions are required before a Forensic Assessment can be produced.

Is MC Counselling LGBTQI+ friendly?Yes. MC Counselling has an interest in supporting LGBTQI+

What is the cancellation or rescheduling policy?Strictly 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, full fee is payable.

Am I able to book an after-hours appointment?We have early morning appointments from 7am. Make contact to check suitability.

Are home visits available?Home visits are available on request and incur an additional fee.

Are you a member of any associations?YES! Accredited Level 2 member of The Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and member of The American Psychological Association (APA) and an accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFA).

Do I need a referral or can I just book an appointment?You can just book an appointment.

How soon can I get an appointment? Is there a waiting list?Straight away. We have a No Waiting List policy.
